The Lord said He would bless and multiply Adam but never gave him or promise a nation. When the people started their Babylonian enterprise to build a city and the tower with its top in the heavens, God put an end to their project by separating them, introducing different languages. The credo of the people was to make a name for themselves, figuratively a tower of fame. God chose Abraham only after the Babel experience and promised him that He would establish a nation through him, if he obeyed Him.
Thus Israel was born as a nation, to suppress the move of the people to glorify themselves, instead of glorifying the God of Israel. God chose a group of weak people and made them a nation, so that through them He would prove His strength. The Old Testament from Genesis to Malachi is a love story between God and His first born nation Israel.
When Jesus came into the world, the people of Israel rejected Him and hanged Him on the tree. Apostle Paul in his letter to the Colossian church refers to Jesus Christ as the image of the invisible God, the first born of all creation (Col 1:15). Through Jesus, God stepped inside creation in order to redeem His creation.
Many people have gone astray through misunderstanding the truth, that Jesus is not the creator but the creation of God the Father. Actually the term ‘first born’ used by Apostle Paul is a status term used by the Jews. The first born in the Jewish family inherits all that the father has. He completely takes over the family and sits alongside with the father.
Jesus like the Jewish born has now taken over the Father’s rights completely to be seated on the right hand of His Father!
