THE EXEMPLARY LOVE OF JESUS

John 13:21 – 27

”So when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. Then after the sop, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, That thou doest, do quickly” (V 26, 27).

Having a meal together in the Middle East with someone, symbolized a close bond of friendship. The disciples had been with Jesus for three and a half years and this supper was going to be their last meal.

THE COST OF LOVE AND MERCY

Luke 10:29 - 37

When a lawyer desiring to justify himself asked Jesus the question, “Who is my neighbour”, Jesus ingeniously presented the parable of the Good Samaritan to answer him. He indicated to His audience that the traveller attacked by the robbers was a Jew, because only the Jews take the circuitous route via Jericho, in order to avoid passing through Samaria to go to the North. The Jews and the Samaritans were always at loggerheads.
