FROM MANUAL LABOUR TO SUPERNATURAL FAVOUR

Numbers 11:4 – 6  “Now the people of Israel wept again and said, “O that we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt for nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; but now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.”

God brought the people of Israel out of Egypt, by parting the Red Sea to His favourite piece of real estate – the wilderness! He sanctified them and gave them His laws to make them holy as He is. All through their lives the Israelites were slaves in Egypt and they were only used to manual Labour but after God stepped into deliver them, He wanted them to experience His supernatural favours. The food and water they had in Egypt, was not available in the wilderness and therefore God provided them with the supernatural food of angels, which they could not appreciate but craved for the natural food. God gave them manna to detoxicate the smell of garlic in their mouths, before they could enjoy the honey from the rock in Canaan.

As slaves in Egypt, they worked hard to pump the water and yet did not have enough. In the wilderness, God split the rock and gave them water which was just enough; but in Canaan, the Lord sent them rain from heaven which was more than enough. Unfortunately only two men, Caleb and Joshua out of the six hundred thousand, moved into Canaan to experience the fullness of God’s supernatural favour.

Our propensity to live within the natural realm can prevent us from enjoying the supernatural favours of God.

Thought for the day: Unless we let go of the natural, we cannot move into the supernatural.
