Risking the unusual

If you would carefully examine the extra-ordinary lives of God’s servants in the Bible, it would make you wonder what was that ‘little extra’ they had - that made them extra-ordinary!

Starting with Moses; - he was challenged by God to catch the rod-turned-snake by its tail. Though initially he vamoosed, he mustered enough courage to obey God and seize the poisonous reptile, which I believe lesser mortals would not have even attempted!

God on seeing that Moses was willing to risk the unusual, became a part and parcel of his life.

Rahab, much sought after in Jericho by lustful men, had only heard about the mighty deeds of the God of Israel but never had a first-hand experience of Him. When she voluntarily braved the situation to hide the spies from Israel without batting an eyelid, she became an instant favorite with God, that He roped her in to be a part of Jesus’ genealogy! She too like Moses was willing to risk the unusual.

This list would go on and on but coming to the point, the coin of Faith has two sides to it – trust and risk. Extra-ordinary bible characters did not just display their trust in God but were also willing to risk the unusual.

Acts 15:26 records about such men who were willing to risk their lives for the sake of Jesus Christ.

In signing off, here is a quote that says it all:

“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you might have to settle for the ordinary.”
