LEARNING TO TRUST - GOD ALONE

Joseph, the blue-eyed boy of his father Jacob, exposed his naivety by sharing his God-given euphoric dreams to his green-eyed brothers. Driven by extreme jealousy, the brothers of Joseph put him in a pit and later sold him off to the Ishmaelites for monetary gain.

The Ishmaelites sold him again to Potiphar, an officer to Pharaoh and captain of the guard in Egypt, where Joseph rose to become an overseer in Potiphar’s house. As the days passed by, Potiphar’s wife set her eyes on the handsome looking Joseph and repeatedly persuaded him to lie with her. The constant refusal by Joseph to all her seductive advances, infuriated her so much that she conspired to have him shut in the king’s prison - for no fault of his. Though Joseph experienced inveterate hatred, unfair justice and huge disappointments all his life, he never bad-mouthed God even once during his trying circumstances.

The turning point came one day, when Joseph interpreted the dream of the chief butler in prison and requested him to share his plight to Pharaoh, to get him released from prison when the dream comes true. Observing Joseph’s life – this was the only occasion he sought favour from a fellow-man, to pull him out of trouble. However, God made the chief butler forget Joseph’s request.

In God’s time, God himself fixed an appointment for Joseph to meet the troubled Pharaoh and interpret his dream. Pharaoh, so impressed with the interpretation and godly wisdom of Joseph, without any reservation elevated him to the post of the Governor of Egypt – second only to Pharaoh. Joseph saw the fulfillment of his dream when his brothers bowed down to him, seeking food supplies for their families.

God fulfilled all His promises for Joseph by orchestrating every event in his life to raise him up from the pits to the Ritz.

He can do it for you too!

Thought for the day

Trusting God also is not the same as Trusting God alone'.
