God created spirit-beings in heaven and appointed Lucifer the archangel to orchestrate praise and worship to magnify His glory. Lucifer with his good looks and divine talent, wanted to ascend above the throne of God and usurp worship for himself. God seeing his rebellion along with one-third of the angels, pushed them out of heaven.
God then created Adam and Eve so that through the human race, He could establish generations of worshippers. Sin disrupted God’s plan, as they were sent out of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). Unfaithfulness to God, be it man or angel affected the worship of God.
After the flood, God replenished the earth through Noah’s family and soon realized that all the people got together to build the tower of Babel, to carve a name for themselves, instead of glorifying His Name (Genesis 11).
God chose Abraham after the Babel episode (Genesis 12), established through him the nation of Israel, called it the apple of His eye, separated, sanctified and gave it laws to make it a kingdom of priests to offer worship to Him. But Israel played the harlot to other gods and proved their unfaithfulness to the Holy One.
Jesus then came down to reconcile man to God and birth the New Testament church, by removing the middle wall of hostility between the Jews and the Gentiles (Romans 11), so that the whole human race could now worship God together!
Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome more than two thousand years ago that, ‘the whole of creation is eagerly waiting for the sons of God (worshippers) to be revealed (Romans 8:19) who would worship Him in heaven for ever and ever.
Thought for the day: The Holy Spirit is still perfecting us to join the hosts of heaven in worshipping the Triune God for eternity.
